President and CEO of Payments Canada Tracey Black to Depart

Tracey Black, the President and CEO of Payments Canada has announced her departure from the organization effective March 31, 2024, prompting a quest for a new leader. Citing the conclusion of her four-year term, Payments Canada, headquartered in Ottawa, disclosed that Black opted not to extend her contract.

During her tenure, she spearheaded significant modernization efforts, overseeing initiatives such as the implementation of Lynx, the replacement of the Large Value Transfer System (LVTS), and the introduction of the new Real-Time Rail (RTR) payment system across Canada.

While Black has not disclosed her future plans, her track record includes roles at McKinsey & Company and as president of consultancy firm GFH Group Inc. She joined Payments Canada in November 2018, initially serving as the executive director of modernization.

The Payments Canada board of directors has initiated a comprehensive search for Black’s successor. In the interim, Kristina Logue and Jude Pinto will serve as co-CEOs, commencing April 1, 2024.

Logue will oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, including corporate strategy, procurement, and human resources, while Pinto will concentrate on innovating Canada’s payment ecosystem with a focus on safety, resilience, and inclusiveness.

In a statement shared on LinkedIn, Black expressed her gratitude towards the dedicated individuals at Payments Canada, acknowledging their steadfast commitment to ensuring the seamless operation of Canada’s payment systems.
