Former Dell Executive to Become CEO of PIF Company Alat
Saudi Arabia has enlisted a former executive from Dell Technologies to spearhead the newly established Public Investment Fund company Alat, a burgeoning industrial electronics enterprise backed by a formidable $100 billion. With aspirations to become a local manufacturing powerhouse, Alat’s ambitious agenda will be steered by Global CEO Amit Midha, who brings extensive experience from his tenure at Dell.
Scheduled to commence operations on February 20th, Alat places a strong emphasis on sustainability and intends to collaborate with global partners to mitigate emissions and transition towards zero-carbon manufacturing practices.
Through the concerted efforts of entities like the Public Investment Fund and Alat, Saudi Arabia is about to establish itself as a formidable player in the global electronics industry.
Under the chairmanship of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Alat aims to generate 39,000 direct employment opportunities within Saudi Arabia and contribute a substantial $9.3 billion to the country’s GDP by 2030. The company’s diverse product portfolio spans over 30 categories, including robotics, computing, digital entertainment, and advanced heavy machinery.
Expressing his vision for Alat, Midha emphasized the transformative potential of technology in revolutionizing business operations. He articulated Alat’s mission to establish a sustainable manufacturing hub, leveraging the Kingdom’s abundant solar, wind, and green hydrogen energy resources.
Midha’s relocation to Riyadh from Singapore marks the culmination of a distinguished career at Dell, where he played a pivotal role in the company’s evolution from a leading PC manufacturer to a diversified entity specializing in data management and storage solutions.
At the helm of Alat, Midha is poised to oversee Saudi Arabia’s ambitious endeavor to cultivate a thriving ecosystem for advanced technology components, including semiconductor chips. The Kingdom’s burgeoning investment in artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technologies for smart cities presents a lucrative opportunity for domestic manufacturing to meet the surging demand for microprocessors and controllers.
