Morocco’s Second-Richest Individual, Othman Benjelloun Claims the 15th spot of Africa’s Wealthiest
Othman Benjelloun claims the 15th spot of Africa’s wealthiest individuals, with a net worth totaling $1.4 billion. Othman Benjelloun is Morocco’s second-richest individual, following Aziz Akhannouch.
Benjelloun spearheads one of the nation’s largest banking conglomerates, BMCE Bank of Africa, overseeing its operations across more than 20 African nations.
His father’s legacy in RMA, a prominent Moroccan insurance company, laid the foundation for Benjelloun to elevate it into a leading insurer. Moreover, through his holding company, FinanceCom, he maintains interests in the Moroccan division of the French telecommunications giant Orange.
In 2014, Benjelloun initiated a groundbreaking $500 million project for the construction of the Mohammed VI Tower in Rabat, a 55-story skyscraper poised to become one of Africa’s tallest edifices.
At 91 years old, speculation abounds regarding the succession plan for the helm of the family fortune, with a keen interest in who will inherit Benjelloun’s prominent position.
