Elon Musk: The Man in the List of Top 3 Wealthiest
Elon Musk, aged 52, resides in the United States and serves as the co-founder and CEO of Tesla. With a staggering net worth of approximately $204,7 billion, Musk’s wealth is intricately tied to his ownership stakes in various ventures. His 13% ownership stake in Tesla is valued at around $102 billion, while his 79% ownership stake in X amounts to around $9.32 billion. Musk also holds private assets, including Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) and The Boring Company.
Musk’s journey to becoming the world’s wealthiest individual began in South Africa. After attending a university in Canada, he transferred to the University of Pennsylvania, earning bachelor’s degrees in physics and economics. Musk’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to defer enrollment in a Stanford University physics program to launch Zip2, an early online navigation service. Proceeds from Zip2 were reinvested to create X.com, an online payment system that evolved into PayPal Holdings after its acquisition by eBay.
In 2004, Musk played a pivotal role in funding Tesla Motors, now known as Tesla, and assumed the role of CEO. Beyond electric vehicles, Tesla manufactures energy storage devices and, following the acquisition of SolarCity in 2016, solar power systems. In addition, Musk is the CEO and chief engineer of SpaceX, a company focused on space launch rockets.
In December 2020, Tesla joined the S&P 500, making Musk the richest person in the world in January 2021, a title influenced by Tesla’s value fluctuations. Musk’s attempt to take X private in April 2022, involving a $44 billion buyout, eventually succeeded in October 2022, giving him a substantial 79% stake in the company.
