Mukesh Ambani Re-Joins $100 Billion Club (Centibillionaire)
Mukesh Ambani, who is the wealthiest person in Asia and India, has once again become a centi-billionaire. His net worth has increased by $6.46 billion, reaching $103 billion, after shares of his flagship company, Reliance Industries Ltd., rose to an all-time high. As the chairman of Reliance, Ambani owns 42% of the company, which has interests in a range of sectors, including energy, telecommunications, and retail.
He is the 12th-richest person in the world, ahead of L’Oreal heir Francoise Bettencourt Meyers. Ambani, 66, has helped build Reliance into India’s largest company by market value.
Last year, his eldest son, Akash, an alumnus of Brown University, took over as chairman of wireless operator Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd., while younger son Anant took on the group’s renewable energy flank.
