Canon U.S.A. Brings Isao Kobayashi from Canon Canada to Serve as President and CEO
Isao “Sammy” Kobayashi has been appointed as the new President and CEO of Canon U.S.A., effective Jan. 1. Kobayashi previously held the position of President and CEO at Canon Canada for the last year. Kobayashi succeeds Kazuto “Kevin” Ogawa, who, after serving five years as President and CEO at Canon U.S.A. since April 2020, will be returning to Japan for a new assignment.
Having commenced his career at Canon Inc. in 1990, Kobayashi started in the photocopier sales division. His journey led him to become an assistant manager in the Canon U.S.A. inkjet printer group by 2005.
Progressing through various roles, he became Vice President of the Imaging Technologies & Communications Group in 2020, where he supervised the company’s consumer imaging products. In response to the increased demand for hybrid work solutions during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kobayashi spearheaded the Hybrid Workplace Solutions Group (HSG) as its vice president and general manager in 2021.
By April 2022, Kobayashi had ascended to senior vice president and general manager at Canon U.S.A., also taking on the role of an executive officer at Canon Inc., a position he presently holds.
