Atlas Copco Searches for a new President and CEO

Atlas Copco has made an announcement regarding the departure of its President and CEO, Mats Rahmström, who will be stepping down after dedicating 35 years to the company. His departure from the Group is scheduled for April 2024. The company has disclosed its plans to initiate the search for a suitable successor to fill Rahmström’s position.

Rahmström’s journey with Atlas Copco began in 1988, and over the years, he has held various key positions within the company. These roles include serving as senior executive vice president, president of the industrial technique, heading the tools and assembly systems general industry division, and overseeing customer centers in Sweden, Canada, and the UK.

Hans Stråberg, the chairman of the board, acknowledged Rahmström’s significant contributions, remarking, “Mats has, through his dedication and leadership, played a very important role in successfully developing Atlas Copco Group and taking it to its current strong position. Mats really embodies the Group’s values, and during his tenure as CEO, we’ve seen impressive growth and financial results. The company is well positioned to continue to create value for shareholders as well as customers, and I have very much appreciated working with Mats.”

Expressing his gratitude for his career with the company, Rahmström stated, “Atlas Copco Group is all about people who continue to find new and better ways. I believe that this is a good time to initiate the process of finding a new CEO. I plan to continue to work after I leave the Group, but will focus on board work and industrial advisory roles going forward. I’m far too curious not to continue to challenge myself.”
