Amandine Ohayon from Pronovias Succeeds current Stella McCartney CEO Gabriele Maggio
Amandine Ohayon is set to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer at Stella McCartney, effective December 1, as announced by the house in a statement on Thursday. She will take over from Gabriele Maggio, who will be departing the company next month to explore new opportunities, according to the company’s statement.
Ohayon arrives at the British label from her previous position as CEO at luxury bridalwear brand Pronovias. Her tenure there involved overseeing the company’s acquisition by Bain Capital earlier this year. Her professional background also includes roles at renowned companies such as YSL Beauty and Armani Beauty. Based in London, Ohayon will report to the Stella McCartney board.
In her new capacity, Ohayon’s primary focus will be revitalizing the Stella McCartney business, which faced significant challenges due to the pandemic and has shown slow recovery despite the overall boom in luxury spending. The brand recorded sales of £32.5 million ($40.7 million) in 2021, marking a 14 percent year-on-year increase but still falling below pre-pandemic levels, as per public records filed with the UK’s Companies House. The company reported losses of £32.7 million. (No accounts for 2022 have been filed yet).
Stella McCartney holds the support of luxury powerhouse LVMH, which acquired a minority stake in the brand in 2019 following its founder’s departure from a 17-year collaboration with former parent company Kering. As part of this transition, McCartney took on the role of a sustainability advisor to LVMH chief Bernard Arnault and the group’s executive committee.
