Jaisen Kohmuench Succeeds the Current President and CEO of Eriez, Lukas Guenthardt
Eriez has announced the appointment of Jaisen Kohmuench as president and CEO, effective January 1, 2024. Kohmuench will succeed the current president and CEO, Lukas Guenthardt, who is set to retire at the end of 2023.
This transition is part of a meticulously planned succession strategy, with Kohmuench collaborating closely with Guenthardt and the Eriez Board of Directors to ensure a seamless handover of responsibilities.
Established in 1942, Eriez specializes in providing magnetic separation, flotation, metal detection, and material handling equipment to industries such as mining, food, recycling, packaging, and aggregates. The company operates globally through 12 wholly-owned international subsidiaries and a sales representative network on six continents.
After a thorough selection process considering internal and external candidates, Kohmuench emerged as the clear choice for the role. With over two decades of service at Eriez, he has held various executive positions, culminating in his most recent role as chief operating officer.
Kohmuench’s career at Eriez has seen him progress from his initial role in research and development as a process engineer to overseeing and expanding the U.S. flotation group. He subsequently took on an expatriate role as the managing director for Eriez-Australia before returning to the U.S. to manage all of Eriez’s international businesses as vice president of international operations and later as chief operating officer.
Richard Merwin, the chairman of the board, acknowledges Guenthardt’s significant role in driving transformative growth, fostering innovation, and achieving remarkable success during his tenure.
Merwin notes that Kohmuench’s career path showcases a unique blend of technical and financial responsibilities, shaping him into the versatile and accomplished leader he is today. Throughout his tenure, Kohmuench has played a pivotal role in shaping global business strategies and driving profitable growth in magnetic, flotation, and service operations.
Merwin emphasizes that Kohmuench embodies the company’s core mission and values, showcasing commitment to fostering a positive corporate culture and supporting community initiatives. Merwin believes that Kohmuench’s extensive technical and international experience, along with his proven leadership qualities and philanthropic spirit, will guide Eriez into a prosperous future.
Eriez highlights Kohmuench’s expertise through his authorship of numerous technical papers and contributions as an inventor with over a dozen patents. He holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in mining and minerals engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
