Derek Huang Rejoins Dentsu to Lead Merkle China as CEO
Dentsu China has appointed Derek Huang as the Chief Executive Officer of Merkle China, which is Dentsu’s customer experience management company (CXM).
Huang’s primary responsibility will be to lead the transformation and rapid growth of Merkle in China, supporting the expansion of Dentsu’s CXM capabilities on a global scale. This entails the integration of strategy, consulting, and implementation across various areas, including experience, digital commerce, data platforms, analytics, AI, Martech, customer value optimization, identity solutions, and activation. He will closely collaborate with the broader Dentsu China leadership team to enhance Dentsu’s Customer Transformation and Technology offerings, ensuring seamless integration with Dentsu’s Media and Creative capabilities to deliver exceptional and transformative results for clients.
Derek Huang comes to this role from his previous position as Head of Marketing Shared Service at YUM China. At YUM China, he oversaw Group Marketing for various brands, encompassing creative, media, membership, and customer relationship management (CRM) functions, as well as consumer insights.
Huang is returning to Dentsu, where he previously held leadership roles for nearly a decade in China and the Asia Pacific region, focusing on Media and CXM. His last role at Dentsu, before his move to YUM, was as Chief Solution & Innovation Officer in 2021. In that role, he managed the integration and positioning of Dentsu China’s customer experience management integrated solutions within Dentsu China’s portfolio of businesses.
