John Wood Group Names Arvind Balan as its new CFO
John Wood Group PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Arvind Balan to its Board as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director, effective as of April 15, 2024.
It’s important to note that Arvind’s appointment as a director is subject to approval by the company’s shareholders at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for May 2024. Arvind Balan will succeed David Kemp, who announced his intention to retire on August 22, 2023. David will remain with the company to ensure a seamless transition, and a specific retirement date will be announced in due course.
Roy Franklin, Wood’s Chairman, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment. The company’s CEO, Ken Gilmartin, also welcomed Arvind Balan, highlighting his dynamic financial leadership and experience in industries and geographies that align with Wood’s strengths. He expressed excitement about working with Arvind to realize the company’s significant potential and thanked David Kemp for his leadership and commitment to Wood.
Arvind Balan, the incoming Chief Financial Officer, expressed his enthusiasm for joining Wood, emphasizing the company’s unique potential, skilled workforce, client relationships, and technical capabilities. He sees Wood as a leader in the energy and materials markets and looks forward to contributing to the company’s growth during this transformative phase.
Arvind Balan has served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Civil Aerospace division of Rolls-Royce, an FTSE 100 aerospace and defense company, for the past two years.
Before his role at Rolls-Royce, Arvind held various executive financial leadership positions at Shell, where he worked for 14 years across the UK, Singapore, and China. He is a chartered accountant and holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management. His base of operations will be in London.
