AIG former CFO Shane Fitzsimons Passes Away
Shane Fitzsimons, the former Chief Financial Officer who left American International Group earlier this year following a medical leave of absence, has passed away.
Fitzsimons’ medical leave was announced in January, after which Mark Lyons, who was the Global Chief Actuary at the time, assumed the role of Interim CFO. However, Lyons was terminated a couple of weeks later due to violations of confidentiality and non-disclosure obligations.
The position was subsequently filled by Sabra Purtill, who initially served in an interim capacity before officially taking over as CFO when Fitzsimons decided not to return from his medical leave.
AIG expressed its condolences in an online post, saying, “We extend our deepest sympathies to Shane’s family and friends.”
