Biotalys Appoints Kevin Helash as its new CEO
Biotalys, an agricultural technology company specializing in protein-based biocontrol solutions for crop and food protection, has recently appointed Kevin Helash as its new Chief Executive Officer. Kevin Helash, currently serving as the CEO of EnviroKure, will assume his new role at Biotalys, effective no later than December 1st. The nomination of Kevin Helash as a director will be presented for confirmation at the next shareholders’ meeting.
This appointment marks the departure of Patrice Sellès from his position as CEO and director, a decision reached through mutual agreement with the company. Patrice Sellès has agreed to remain in an advisory capacity for 30 days after stepping down to facilitate a smooth transition.
Simon Moroney, Chairman of Biotalys’ Board of Directors, expressed his gratitude to Patrice Sellès for his dedicated work over the past four years. Under Sellès’ leadership, Biotalys has become a highly respected public company. Moroney looks forward to welcoming Kevin Helash as the new CEO, noting Helash’s extensive industry experience, including the successful commercialization of biological products in North America and Europe. This experience will be particularly valuable as Biotalys prepares to introduce its first biocontrol product, Evoca, to the U.S. market upon obtaining regulatory approval. Moroney emphasized Helash’s qualifications to lead Biotalys during its upcoming growth phase.
Kevin Helash brings over 30 years of international experience in developing and executing aggressive growth strategies while managing costs and enhancing profitability. His background includes commercializing innovative agricultural technologies on a global scale, with previous roles as CEO of Marrone Bio Innovations (formerly listed on Nasdaq) and Agrinos, as well as Vice President and Corporate Officer of Agrium.
Patrice Sellès shared his sentiments about his time as CEO, expressing pride in the achievements at Biotalys over the past years, including major research, development, and distribution partnerships, advancements in production capabilities, and the company’s listing on Euronext Brussels. He thanked the entire Biotalys team for their dedication and wished them success under the new leadership.
In response to his appointment, Kevin Helash expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m delighted to become the new CEO of Biotalys and look forward to leading the company to commercialization with the planned market introduction of its series of biocontrol product candidates. Biological agents will play a central role in transforming the crop protection industry, and with its unique capabilities, Biotalys is ideally positioned to become a major player in this market.”
