Stellantis Appoints Antonio Filosa for the role of CEO
Stellantis NV, the manufacturer of Jeep vehicles, has announced that Antonio Filosa, currently serving as the chief operating officer in South America, will assume the role of Jeep’s CEO, effective from November 1. This change comes as Christian Meunier, who has been leading the brand since May 2019, will be taking an extended break to focus on personal interests.
Antonio Filosa’s career with the Fiat Group began in 1999 when he became the head of purchasing in Latin America. He has held various roles, including plant manager at the Betim facility in Brazil, head of Argentina, and responsibilities for the Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands in Latin America. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from Italy’s Politecnico di Milano.
In a related move, Emanuele Cappellano, who currently serves as the North America CEO and holds the position of group strategy and corporate development director at the Italian eyewear manufacturer Marcolin Group, will replace Antonio Filosa. Cappellano had previously worked as the chief financial officer in South America for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, a predecessor of Stellantis, from 2017 to 2021.
Additionally, Ashwani Muppasani, the head of Stellantis’ China national sales company, will take on the role of chief operating officer for Stellantis India and Asia Pacific. This change follows the decision of Carl Smiley, the previous occupant of this role, to prioritize his personal life.
Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares expressed gratitude for the contributions of Christian and Carl to the company and emphasized his confidence in the abilities of the newly appointed executives. He also acknowledged that personal decisions are part of life and must be respected.
