65-year-old CEO and President of Neighborly Mike Bidwell Died

Neighborly made a somber announcement, revealing the passing of their President and CEO, Mike Bidwell, at the age of 65. Describing it as a “sudden and unexpected” loss, Neighborly, recognized as the world’s largest home services company, expressed deep sorrow over the news.

In a heartfelt statement, the company’s leadership conveyed their profound grief, emphasizing the significant impact of Bidwell’s leadership. They described him as an exceptional leader, combining intelligence, compassion, and keen insights.

Following Bidwell’s unfortunate passing, Jon Shell has been appointed as the interim President and CEO of Neighborly. The management has committed to continuing Neighborly’s operations as a tribute to Bidwell’s enduring influence and contributions.

In their dedication to preserving Bidwell’s vision for Neighborly, the leadership affirmed their unity as a strong team, resolute in moving forward while honoring his memory.

Mike Bidwell’s connection with Neighborly spanned nearly four decades. His journey began in April 1984 when he ventured into the Neighborly family by opening a franchise of Rainbow International Carpet Cleaning & Restoration in Tucson, Arizona. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the first multi-concept franchisee and area developer, initially establishing Worldwide Refinishing Systems (now known as DreamMaker Bath and Kitchen) in 1987. Later, in 1992, he expanded his portfolio by adding Mr. Rooter Plumbing to his franchises.

Bidwell’s remarkable success as a multi-unit franchisee earned him accolades, including the titles of Franchisee of the Year for Rainbow International and Top Gun for each of the franchise brands under his ownership, according to the company’s account.

Due to his outstanding achievements, Neighborly recognized Bidwell’s potential and recruited him to the world headquarters in Waco, Texas, in 1995. During his tenure, he held several significant roles, including Chief Operating Officer and President for three distinct franchise brands. In January 2014, Mike Bidwell ascended to the position of President and CEO of Neighborly, further solidifying his legacy within the company.
