SUNNYVALE, California (Nasdaq: SNPS) has officially declared that Sassine Ghazi will take on the position of President and Chief Executive Officer, commencing from January 1, 2024. This strategic move comes as Aart de Geus, the current Chair and CEO, will gracefully shift into the role of Executive Chair for Synopsys’ Board of Directors.
The dynamic duo will continue their established tradition of close collaboration aimed at nurturing Synopsys’ vibrant corporate culture, sustaining its technological forefront, and fostering robust business expansion – achievements they have prominently showcased. Furthermore, Ghazi’s affiliation with Synopsys’ Board of Directors commenced on August 13, 2023, signifying another milestone in the company’s growth.
De Geus, the visionary founder of Synopsys in 1986, has steered the company from its disruptive startup phase to becoming a pioneering force in electronic design automation, design IP, and software security. Synopsys has revolutionized digital design and currently stands as a key player in the semiconductor ecosystem, boasting around 20,000 employees and generating approximately $5.5 billion in revenue over the past year.
The company is poised to play a pivotal role in the forthcoming AI-driven ‘Smart Everything’ era. Aart’s reputation as a technology visionary and his impactful presence as a keynote speaker at industry events have earned him numerous accolades. As the current President and COO, Ghazi spearheads strategic initiatives across all business units, encompassing sales, marketing, and customer success within the organization. His tenure as COO began in August 2020, followed by his appointment as President in November 2021. Before joining Synopsys, Ghazi served as a design engineer at Intel. Today, at the age of 53, he brings a wealth of experience spanning decades in chip design to his new role as CEO at Synopsys.
