New business for Richard Branson in the hotel sector

Richard Branson

Richard Branson is the owner of Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. The Chairman of the Virgin Group operates the island as a resort, after creating some luxury properties which are part of the Virgin Limited Edition portfolio.

Richard Branson recently expanded his hotel portfolio on a new private island. Moskito Island belongs to British Virgin Islands. It is home to 125 acres natural environment, including three estates. The Oasis Estate, The Point Estate and The Branson Estate. Richard Branson and his company offer a unique hospitality rental program in the Caribbean.

More specifically, The Branson Estate includes three villas, operating independently with their own private beach. All the villas provide to their residents the privacy they need in order to spend some days far from everything, relaxing by the sea. The names of the three villas are: Headland House, inspired by Branson’s 39-year-old daughter, Holly, chief purpose officer of the Virgin Group, Beach Villa and Mangrove Villa, inspired by Branson’s 36-year-old son, Sam, founder of Sundog Pictures, a production company in London. In total these villas offer 11 bedrooms for up to 22 guests.

The Point Estate consists of independent guest houses. In this place can be hosted up to 14 adults and 8 children. At the heart of the estate there is an open communal hub and a spectacular infinity pool.

Lastly, The Oasis Estate has the most impressive view of the Caribbean. The property can host up to 18 guests. There is also an infinity pool, an ocean – facing gym, facilities for table tennis and chess and a giant lounger bed.

Branson acquired Moskito Island in 2007 for 10 million £. Moskito Island overlooks Necker Island. Richard Branson implemented in Moskito Island the same vision he had for Necker Island.

It is worth mentioning that each property has an Estate manager, a private chef and appropriate staff to cover all the needs of the residents. Of course, the guests have to pay thousands of dollars per night in order to book their stay in these properties.

Moskito Island has been for many years a favorite place for scuba divers and sailors. In 2017 Barack Obama visited the island and learned how to kiteboard there. Richard Branson’s Virgin Group was founded 50 years ago. The headquarters is in London. Virgin’s purpose is to change business for good, so the values of the company are to keep people, products and partners on the right path. The Virgin Group includes more than 40 companies across five business sectors and five continents. According to latest data, Virgin Group’s revenue in 2019 was almost 17 billion dollars. The company has more than 70.000 employees.
