Top 10 cheapest getaways in Europe for USA residents (new survey)

Among the cities that saw the prices of air tickets fall sharply is Athens in Greece, while the same list includes popular tourist destinations such as Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Rome, Helsinki, Milan and Dublin. The above data come from a recent research conducted by the company Hopper. In other words, USA residents who want to travel to European destinations if they book their air tickets this period of time they will pay less money than the previous years.

Airline tickets to Europe have dropped by an average of less than $ 600 round trip. This is the first time that happens something like this during the last five years. At the moment, Madrid is the cheapest destination for airline tickets for Americans. The price of the tickets has dropped to $ 427 round trip on average.

The second cheapest getaway for Americans in Europe is Lisbon with the average cost of a round trip ticket being $ 457. This price is 15% lower compared to the cost of the tickets during this summer, and 43% lower compared to the cost of the tickets during the summer of 2019.

The fourth cheapest getaway in Europe for Americans is Dublin. An air ticket from USA to Dublin round trip costs 495 dollars on average. This price is 29% lower compared to the cost of the tickets during the summer of 2019.

Reykjavik in Iceland completes the top 5 cheapest getaways in Europe for USA travelers. The price of air tickets has dropped to 505 dollars round trip on average. This price is 22% lower compared to the cost of the tickets during the summer of 2019.

Porto holds the 6th place of the list. The price of air tickets with departure from USA has dropped to 506 dollars round trip on average. This price is 43% lower compared to the cost of the tickets during the summer of 2019.

Milan, Helsinki and Rome hold the 7th, 8th and 9th place of the list respectively. Air tickets for Milan round trip cost 518 dollars on average. Air tickets for Helsinki round trip also cost 518 dollars on average. However, this price is 41% lower compared to the cost of the tickets during this summer and 36% lower compared to the cost of the tickets during the summer of 2019. Air tickets for Rome round trip cost 526 dollars on average following a 30% drop compared to the summer.

Athens holds the 10th place of the list. Air tickets for Athens cost $ 564 round trip on average. This price is valid in the last days and is 28% lower than during the summer months.

Due to the above offers for Europe, Hopper has noticed a significant increase in bookings compared to other regions worldwide. For example, average bookings over the past two weeks show that Europe accounts for 22% of international booking volumes, defining international travel demand in Europe from this summer. As of September 8th, 32% of the company’s daily international bookings were for Europe – the highest since July 9th, 2021 (36%) and before that the highest since February 2020.

It is worth mentioning that the United States will permit air travel from Europe (including Britain), China and India in early November for fully vaccinated travelers, according to a White House statement. The White House intends to allow non-US citizens to travel to the country from areas banned from early 2020, as it applies new travel requirements, said White House spokesman Jeff Zients.
