Best Blue Flagged Beaches In The World

The iconic Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognised voluntary eco-labels awarded to beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators. To qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be fulfilled and maintained.

Beaches that are awarded with this award are the most beautiful ones, let’s have a look at the list as per their latest ranking.

  1. Greece
Greece is definitely god’s own country, it has the most beautiful beaches and landscapes. Is there anyone who doesn’t know that Greece and its thousand islands have the best and safest beaches in the world? In this case – and we totally mean it – we really can’t choose just one, but for the sake of our readers, if we really have to pick one, it has to be “Thassos island beach,” with its coves and the bluest of waters.
  2. Portugal
Portugal with its pristine shores, confirms that its reputation as a surfing paradise with giant waves is not the only thing this country has its bucket – its beaches are stunning, too. Beach-lovers’ adore Praia da Rocha Baixinha or Praia dos Tomates in the Algarve area. Water here is clear, the beachline is widespread to offer you ample space, privacy and less crowded spots, and there’s a lively nightlife with clubs and pubs to make your evenings happier.
  3. Turkey
No one returns disappointed from a holiday in Turkey. The Foundation for Environmental Education ( the one who awards Blue Flags) noticed this and has placed this gem in their rankings. The one beach nobody should miss in Turkey is Kaputas. The azure waters and white sands are incredible – they will offer you the much-needed beach vibes.
  4.  France
They say France is only good for a romantic getaway in Paris, not any more…! If you thought only of Paris while making a plan, rework on it and have a look at the gorgeous beaches of France, as they are among the top three blue flagged beaches of the world. Choose Corsica as your base in France, for its heavenly beaches, some are little wild, while some offer low-key shorelines. Our recommendation here is Palombaggia, with its crystal-white and fine sand.
  5. Spain
Pictures surprised us – Spain is an all-time queen of the summer! Everybody’s favourite beach destination has been ranked first for a few years now and boasts a number of Blue Flag beaches. Spain is not only about Barcelona, Ibiza, and Formentera, the country has the most wonderful and serene beaches. To name the best one, gorgeous shores of Calò des Moro, on the island of Mallorca are sure to take your breath away.
  6. Italy
Italy, not for its food and architecture, its popular for its beautiful beaches too. Choosing the best beach in this country is not something easy – it’s like choosing your favourite star out of the constellation. Our official spot recommended by Blue Flag in the region of Liguria, is Spotorno, for its charming views that can only be found in Italy!
