Revealed: Top 50 Colleges In The United States, 2018

Harvard University

Just in case Harvard hasn’t earned enough distinctions, Newsweek adds one more to America’s preeminent institution, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based university earns top billing as the number one college in the United States in its 2018 report. Located on 250 acres in downtown New Haven, Connecticut, Yale University, the 3-oldest institution of higher education in the United States ranked No. 2 on the list of top 50 colleges in the United States, followed by MIT, Princeton, and Stanford.

The researcher at American magazine looked at three separate university rankings to compile these rankings including information from the U.S. News National University Ranking, the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings, and Forbes list of America’s Top Colleges, all of which rate America’s universities slightly differently. Magazine combined data from all 3 sources to create a list of the top 50 colleges of the 5,000 or so across the country, as well as information about fees and post-graduation salaries.
