Top 50 Research-Intensive Universities In Canada 2017; Research InfoSource University rankings

The University of Toronto again ranked number one in the Research InfoSource University rankings, which compare and rate research-intensive universities across Canada. The University generated $1,008,256,000 in sponsored research income for the 2016 fiscal year.

The University of Toronto recently secured 20th position in the world in the US News Rankings for the world’s 100 best global universities list. The institution remains the top-ranked university in Canada for 2018.

McGill University moved up two places and is now ranked second among top research university in Canada, followed by University of British Columbia, the Université de Montréa, and the University of Alberta.

In order to obtain a balanced picture of how universities are performing, the ranking takes into account both financial input and research output and impact measures. The financial input measures are: total sponsored research income and faculty research intensity.
