Norway and Slovenia have been declared as the “Best Countries For Children To Grow Up And Live In,” according to a report by Save the Children. Finland rated 3rd, followed by the Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal, and Ireland.
Surprisingly, out of 172 countries, the United States took the 36th spot — just one position higher than Russia and well behind most of Europe.
Norway, Slovenia, Finland, Netherlands, and Sweden top the rankings, while Somalia, Central African Republic, Mali, Angola, and Niger come bottom.
The rankings were determined by measuring the average level of performance across 8 topics: adolescent births, child labor, child homicide, displacement by conflict, early marriage, malnutrition that stunts growth, out-of-school children, and under-5 mortality.
