World’s Top 20 Universities With The Best Student-To-Staff Ratio, 2017

With 1.1 students for every staff member, Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in the United States topped the list of the world’s top 20 universities with the best student-staff ratio, according to the Times Higher Education for 2017.

Meanwhile, Saitama Medical University in Japan ranked No. 2 with 1.5 students for every staff member. With 2.2 students for every staff member, Rush University Medical Center in Chicago tied with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Bengaluru for the No. 3 spot.

Attending an institution with a low student-to-staff ratio can mean more personalized attention for students. It allows students a high level of interaction with faculty and advisers.

So, which universities have the best student-to-staff ratios in the world?

The research shows that the United States dominate the list with 10 universities featured in top 20. Japan comes in second with 5 universities.

The rest of the top 20 features universities from Denmark, India, Italy, Russia, and Sweden. Surprisingly universities based in the united kingdom are absent from the list.

It is also important to point out that all the universities in the top 5 are specialist institutions, with 4 of them dedicated exclusively to the medical and health sciences.
