Mukesh Ambani’s Family Tops List of Wealthiest Asian Dynasties
The family of Indian entrepreneur Mukesh Ambani has secured the top position among Asia’s wealthiest dynasties, with an estimated fortune of $90.5 billion. Their wealth is primarily derived from their ownership of industrial conglomerate Reliance Industries.
Following the Ambani family, the second spot on the list is occupied by Thailand’s Cheravanont family, whose wealth amounts to $42.6 billion. Their business empire, Charoen Pokphand, spans the food industry and telecommunications sector across Asia. Indonesia’s Hartono family, known for its banking empire, holds third place with assets totaling $42.2 billion.
The rankings also highlight the dominance of Indian billionaire families, with six more making it into the top 20.
India’s billionaire wealth has seen remarkable growth over the past decade, tripling to $905.6 billion. According to Swiss financial group UBS, the number of billionaires in India has surged past 290, more than doubling in the past ten years. The country now ranks among the world’s top three in terms of family-owned businesses with a market capitalization exceeding $1 billion, boasting 108 such enterprises.
UBS analysts attribute the rapid rise in Indian billionaires to urbanization, industrial sector expansion, and a shift toward sustainable energy. They predict that in the coming decade, India could follow a trajectory similar to China’s pre-2020 surge in billionaire growth, reinforcing its position as a global economic powerhouse.
