AUB Group Announces New Leadership for UK Broking Operations
Australia-based AUB Group has revealed key leadership changes for its UK broking operations, with two prominent executives set to take on new roles. Tom Wilson will assume the position of Chief Executive Officer of London-based Lloyd’s broker Tysers, starting October 1, pending regulatory approval. Meanwhile, Bob Pybus will step into the role of AUB UK Retail CEO.
Wilson, a seasoned Lloyd’s broker with extensive senior management experience, previously led Tysers’ marine and aviation division. His new responsibilities will encompass leading Tysers’ wholesale broking business across sectors such as marine & aviation, property & casualty, specialty, and Tysers Live. Reflecting on his appointment, Wilson expressed his enthusiasm for leading Tysers, highlighting the opportunities for growth and the growing demand for specialized insurance expertise in the London and international markets.
Before Wilson’s appointment, AUB CEO and Managing Director Mike Emmett had served as interim CEO of Tysers following the departure of former Tysers chief executive Clive Buesnel in August 2023 after the broker’s acquisition by AUB Group.
As for Bob Pybus, his responsibilities have expanded as he takes on the role of UK Retail CEO for AUB. With over 40 years of industry experience, Pybus had previously served as head of Tysers’ retail division. He will now lead AUB’s retail broking expansion in the UK, drawing on the company’s successful growth strategies from Australia and New Zealand. Pybus is well-known for his expertise in business acquisitions, integrations, and risk management and aims to drive further growth in the UK market. Pybus described his new role as a privilege and looked forward to working with his team to enhance the value offered to brokers and clients.
AUB’s Mike Emmett expressed confidence in the leadership of both Wilson and Pybus, noting their significant contributions to Tysers’ success and their readiness to guide the UK businesses through their next phases of growth. Emmett praised their market knowledge, client service dedication, and strategic leadership as key assets for the company’s future.
