Alessandro Valenti Takes Helm as Givenchy’s New CEO

Givenchy, part of the LVMH luxury conglomerate, has appointed Alessandro Valenti as its new CEO. This announcement follows the departure of Matthew Williams as creative director in January and Renaud De Lesquen’s decision to pursue a new career path. Valenti, previously the president of EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) at Louis Vuitton, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Valenti’s extensive background includes positions at Versace, Giorgio Armani, and Ralph Lauren before joining LVMH in 2014. At LVMH, he served as managing director of Louis Vuitton France and Monaco, then president of North-Central Europe and Africa, and most recently as EMEA president of Louis Vuitton.

Givenchy, known for its strong haute couture heritage, is part of LVMH’s Fashion Group, which also includes brands like Fendi, Celine, and Loewe. The Fashion Group has experienced significant leadership changes recently. On February 1st, Michael Burke was appointed chairman and CEO of LVMH Fashion Group, succeeding Sidney Toledano, who later returned to the position. Additionally, Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou was named CEO of Fendi, effective June 1st, amid ongoing speculation about upcoming changes at Celine’s creative head.

Despite being one of the smaller brands in the LVMH portfolio, Givenchy continues to make its mark. The house presented two studio-made collections for Autumn/Winter 2024 in January and February, but notably skipped men’s fashion week in June.

Valenti’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to propel Givenchy to new heights. With 25 years of international experience in the luxury industry and a decade-long tenure at Louis Vuitton, his knowledge and managerial skills are expected to be valuable assets for Givenchy’s future growth and success.
