Michael Kunz Named CEO of Lidl Austria
Lidl Austria has announced the appointment of Michael Kunz as its new CEO, effective August 1, 2024. Kunz will succeed Alessandro Wolf, who will transition to the role of divisional director at the Lidl Foundation in September 2024.
As Alessandro Wolf moves to his new position, he will oversee multiple countries and play a significant role in their development. Nicholas Pennanen, previously announced as Wolf’s successor, will continue as CEO of Lidl Switzerland.
Additionally, Benny Klein will transition from Lidl Switzerland to Lidl Austria in August, taking over as managing director for sales and logistics. Sven Joller will replace Klein as regional managing director in Switzerland.
With 20 years of retail experience, Kunz began his career at Lidl Switzerland in 2011 as a regional manager. Before his move to Austria, he served as managing director of Lidl’s regional operations in Sévaz, Switzerland. In 2020, Kunz joined Lidl Austria as managing director for sales and logistics.
