Kongsberg NanoAvionics Appoints Atle Wøllo as New CEO
Kongsberg NanoAvionics has announced the appointment of Atle Wøllo as its new CEO. This leadership change comes two years after the Norwegian defense firm Kongsberg acquired NanoAvionics, which originated as a spin-off from Lithuania’s Vilnius University and has since become a leading manufacturer of small satellites.
In a news release, Wøllo expressed his enthusiasm about joining NanoAvionics and highlighted the company’s ambitions to expand its share in the global market for commercial constellations and government missions. He emphasized the company’s strong history of successful missions and notable customer base, aligning with the industry’s shift towards Space 3.0, which focuses on mission longevity, performance, reliability, and interoperability.
Wøllo, formerly an executive at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, held roles such as Senior Vice President of Special Programs and President of Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services. He succeeds Žilvinas Kvedaravičius, who served as interim CEO following the departure of co-founder and former CEO Vytenis J. Buzas in 2023. Kvedaravičius had an eight-year tenure with the company.
