Former Deputy CEO at Balenciaga, Laura du Rusquec, Succeeds Current CEO of Ganni, Andrea Baldo

In a significant shake-up within the fashion industry, Laura du Rusquec, formerly the deputy CEO at Balenciaga, steps into the role of chief executive at Ganni with immediate effect, succeeding Andrea Baldo, who has led the company for the past five years. Andrea Baldo’s departure marks the end of an era during which he played a pivotal role in steering Ganni through both challenges and triumphs, as acknowledged by founder Nicolaj Reffstrup.

Looking ahead, Ganni’s focus shifts towards global expansion, leveraging du Rusquec’s expertise in EMEA and international markets. Eduardo Velasco, partner at L Catterton, the majority stakeholder in Ganni since 2017, highlights du Rusquec’s strategic insights as instrumental in propelling the brand into its next phase of growth and innovation.

Under Baldo’s leadership, Ganni cemented its position as an international brand while making strides in sustainability. Recent endeavors include the opening of stores in China and collaborations aimed at reducing the brand’s carbon footprint, signaling Ganni’s commitment to responsible practices. Moreover, Ganni made a deliberate decision to forgo its participation in Copenhagen Fashion Week, opting instead to support emerging brands, reflecting a strategic pivot in its approach to the industry.

Du Rusquec brings a wealth of experience from her tenure at Kering, where she held various positions at Gucci and the Kering Group before her venture to Balenciaga. Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, she emphasized her commitment to advancing Ganni’s legacy of innovation and sustainability in the realm of luxury fashion. With du Rusquec at the helm, Ganni looks poised to embark on a new chapter of expansion and creativity, promising exciting prospects for the brand’s future trajectory.
