EQT Holdings Welcomes Johanna Platt from Vanguard to Serve as CFO

Pokeworks Businessman

Johanna Platt, a seasoned financial executive with over 25 years of experience, has been named the new Chief Financial Officer at EQT Holdings, effective July 22, 2024. Platt’s appointment follows a distinguished career, including roles at Vanguard Australia and ISPT, where she served as interim CFO since 2023.

Platt’s appointment comes as Philip Gentry, the current CFO and COO, announced his intentions to step down from the position. Her selection followed an extensive search process, underscoring the importance of her leadership in driving EQT Holdings’ financial strategy.

Furthermore, the firm strengthened its board with the appointment of Suzanne Holden, former COO at Link Group and former interim group executive for member growth at Aware Super, as a non-executive director of its superannuation trustee business, signaling continued focus on strategic leadership and growth.

During her tenure at ISPT, Platt oversaw a wide range of financial functions, including finance, procurement, insurance, tax, treasury, and valuation, demonstrating her comprehensive expertise in financial management. Previously, she served as CFO at Vanguard Australia, where she led a 200-person finance team for five and a half years.

Mick O’Brien, Managing Director at Equity Trustees, expressed confidence in Platt’s abilities, highlighting her exceptional skill set and extensive experience. He warmly welcomed her to the team and expressed anticipation for their collaboration.

Earlier this year, Equity Trustees reported significant growth, with funds under management, administration, and supervision (FUMAS) reaching $183.5 billion for the second half of the financial year 2023, marking an 18% increase from the prior corresponding period (PCP). Revenue also surged by 37% to $83.9 million compared to the PCP.
