Mike Kocsis Takes the Reins as CEO of Global Seafood Alliance
The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has introduced Mike Kocsis as its new Chief Executive Officer. Assisting in Kocsis’ transition is longtime GSA leader Wally Stevens, who will continue to serve on the GSA board of directors and executive committee. Stevens, with 17 years of involvement with GSA, has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s trajectory since joining as executive director of the Global Aquaculture Alliance in 2007.
With an impressive two-decade-long career in the seafood industry, Kocsis brings invaluable expertise and leadership to guide GSA into its next phase of growth. Having joined the organization in 2022 as Chief Systems Officer and subsequently serving as Chief Strategy Officer, Kocsis has demonstrated a deep understanding of certification operations and information technology, positioning him perfectly for this new role.
A graduate in supply chain management and international business, Kocsis holds degrees from Penn State University and Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. His passion for responsible seafood practices and commitment to collaboration are evident in his vision for GSA’s future.
Kocsis’ illustrious career includes leadership roles at renowned seafood brands such as High Liner Foods, King & Prince Seafood, and Gorton’s Seafood. Notably, his contributions were recognized on IntraFish’s 40 Under 40 list in 2016 during his tenure as VP of aquaculture procurement at High Liner Foods.
Kocsis emphasized GSA’s collaboration with industry leaders, retailers, food service operators, and NGOs. He expressed gratitude for the dedicated team at GSA, whose commitment to the organization’s mission inspires him daily.
