Jane Poole Succeeds Neil Manser in the Role of CFO at Direct Line Insurance Group
Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LSE: DLG) has announced the appointment of Jane Poole as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Neil Manser, who served in the role for three years. Poole brings extensive experience to her new position, having served as CFO of Aviva’s UK and Ireland general insurance business for the past three years. Prior to Aviva, she held a similar role at Royal & Sun Alliance’s UK & International businesses.
Last month, the FTSE 250-listed company made headlines by rejecting a takeover bid from Belgium’s Ageas, opting instead to focus on cost-cutting measures aimed at navigating challenging market conditions, according to analysts. Direct Line Insurance Group faced significant operating losses in the past year, prompting management to implement an approximately $127 million cost-saving program. Despite this, potential suitor Ageas walked away in March after two unsuccessful takeover attempts.
Expressing confidence in the appointment, chair Danuta Gray acknowledged Manser’s contributions, thanking him for steering the group through challenging times and stabilizing the business for the future.
Poole also expressed her enthusiasm about joining Direct Line Group during a crucial juncture. Her appointment underscores the company’s commitment to navigating challenges and seizing opportunities for growth and resilience in the insurance sector.
