Srinivas Pallia Takes the Reins at Wipro Ltd
In a strategic move amidst a challenging business landscape, Wipro Ltd appoints Srinivas Pallia as its new Chief Executive Officer, entrusting him with the task of navigating the company through turbulent times and fulfilling soaring stakeholder expectations in the backdrop of a $245-billion Indian IT industry facing unprecedented challenges.
Pallia steps into this role following the resignation of Thierry Delaporte, with just 15 months remaining in his tenure as CEO, announced shortly before the company’s annual financial results. A veteran of Wipro for three decades, Pallia brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as CEO of the company’s largest and fastest-growing market, Americas 1.
Despite the retirement age at Wipro being 58, Pallia is set to lead the company for five years, extending his tenure until the age of 61. His ascent to the top echelons of Wipro’s leadership is a testament to his dedication and perseverance within the organization amidst a backdrop of CEO turnovers over the past 15 years.
While external candidates were considered, the decision to appoint Pallia underscores the company’s commitment to internal talent and operational continuity. Chairman Rishad Premji’s choice of an internal candidate based in New Jersey reflects a strategic alignment with the epicenter of IT services decision-making.
As Pallia embarks on this transformative journey, he is poised to steer Wipro towards a trajectory of sustained growth, innovation, and market leadership, cementing its position as a formidable player in the global IT landscape.
