Ranked: Countries With the Most Cultural Influence, 2024
According to a new study by CEOWORLD magazine, Italy tops the list of countries that offer significant cultural influence across the globe. Despite not being the wealthiest or most powerful nation, Italy is rich in literature, and fine arts, steeped in history, and boasts a huge tourism and fashion industry. Seven out of the top ten countries on the list are in Europe, including Greece (No. 2), Spain (No. 3), France (No. 5), the United Kingdom (No. 6), Portugal (No. 8), and Switzerland (No. 10). The remaining three countries that made it to the list are the United States (No. 4), India (No. 7), and Japan (No. 9). CEOWORLD magazine determined the world’s most culturally influential countries by measuring their global significance in ten categories: artistic accomplishments, language, fashion, food, music, architecture, literature, movies, history, and heritage.
The Global Cultural Influence ranking is determined by calculating an average score of ten country attributes that are related to a country’s cultural impact. To conduct the survey, the magazine asked over 126,000 people, including business leaders, informed elites, and general citizens, to associate 92 countries with specific characteristics. It’s no surprise that countries with dictatorships or totalitarian regimes in power performed poorly in the survey. The purpose of the “Best Countries Cultural Influence,” 2024 report is to determine the global perception of different nations. The following list includes countries that are considered cultural flag bearers across the world and are often regarded as key players in this area.
