Josh Vernon Joins Carbon Re as CEO to Drive Industrial Decarbonization
Carbon Re has appointed Josh Vernon as its new Chief Executive Officer. Vernon assumes the role of CEO from Sherif Elsayed-Ali, a co-founder of Carbon Re, who transitioned from his day-to-day responsibilities as CEO in 2023 to pursue new decarbonization challenges.
Elsayed-Ali’s leadership played a pivotal role in steering Carbon Re through successful pre-seed and seed funding rounds, enabling the development and deployment of its innovative business and technology solutions.
Relocating from Sydney, Australia, to London, Vernon joins Carbon Re following his tenure at Humanforce, where he served in a leadership capacity. Prior to this, he co-founded and led Earnd, Australia’s pioneering employee financial well-being platform, which was successfully acquired by Greensill Capital in 2020. Under Vernon’s leadership, Earnd experienced exponential growth, expanding its customer base to include globally renowned brands such as Bupa, Tesco, and NHS.
Expressing his excitement about joining Carbon Re, Vernon highlighted the company’s unique AI-driven technology solutions, talented team, and significant commercial traction. He emphasized his commitment to driving the company forward and leveraging its strengths to achieve greater success in the realm of industrial decarbonization.
Carbon Re recently secured $5.32 million in seed funding in late 2023 to accelerate the development and implementation of its Delta Zero platform. This groundbreaking platform empowers the cement industry to significantly reduce CO2 emissions, making substantial strides toward environmental sustainability.
