Andreas Schierenbeck Succeeds Claudio Facchin as CEO of Hitachi Energy

Hitachi Energy has revealed that Andreas Schierenbeck will take the helm as the new Chief Executive Officer, commencing his role on July 1, 2024. Claudio Facchin, the current CEO, will step down from his position at the end of June 2024. Andreas will collaborate closely with the Hitachi Energy Board, Executive Team, and Claudio to facilitate a seamless transition before assuming leadership on July 1, 2024.

Bringing a wealth of experience to his new role, Andreas joins Hitachi Energy from HH2E, a green-hydrogen production company, where he serves as a co-founder and board member. Previously, he held the position of CEO at Uniper from 2019 to 2021, spearheading the company’s decarbonization strategy. His tenure as CEO of thyssenkrupp Elevator from 2013 to 2018 saw him lead the company’s transformation into a global leader in digital technology. Andreas also held various management roles within Siemens from 1992 to 2012, including President and CEO of Siemens Building Technologies in the US and Senior Vice President in the Siemens electric utility sector in Switzerland. He holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from TU Dresden and an Advanced Management Certificate from Harvard University. Andreas is a German citizen.
