CEO of Komainu, Nicolas Bertrand, Steps Down Amidst Expansion Efforts
Nicolas Bertrand, the CEO of Komainu, a crypto custody firm backed by Nomura, has resigned from his position “with immediate effect,” according to a spokesperson from the company.
This development comes shortly after Komainu outlined an optimistic future in its 2024 Custody Outlook report, detailing plans for a multi-custodian off-exchange settlement system with Copper’s ClearLoop, aiming for settlement within T+4 hours.
Bertrand’s departure, cited as due to “personal reasons” in a Financial News report on February 15, has led to Robert Johnson, the company’s Chief Technology Officer, assuming the role of interim CEO. Johnson expressed his readiness to oversee day-to-day operations at Komainu, with Bertrand available in a supporting capacity for the coming months.
Prior to joining Komainu in September 2022, Bertrand held positions at Borsa Italiana and the London Stock Exchange Group, where he led derivatives, commodities, and equities operations.
While Bertrand’s departure marks a significant change in leadership for Komanu, the company remains committed to its expansion goals and providing innovative solutions in the crypto custody sector under Johnson’s interim leadership.
