Øivind Tangen to Replace Current SBM Offshore CEO Bruno Chabas

After leading SBM Offshore as CEO and Chair of the Management Board for 12 years, Bruno Chabas will step down on April 12, 2024. In response, the Supervisory Board has chosen Øivind Tangen, currently serving as COO and a member of the Management Board, to assume the roles of CEO and Chair of the Management Board from that date. Following this transition, the Management Board will consist of Tangen and Chief Financial Officer Douglas Wood.

Chabas, during 2024, will serve as an advisor to facilitate a smooth transition. Tangen, who joined SBM Offshore 21 years ago and has been COO since 2022, expressed his gratitude for being chosen as Bruno’s successor. He conveyed his commitment to working with the SBM team to carry forward the company’s strategy with enthusiasm.

Chabas shared his gratitude, stating that it had been a tremendous privilege to lead the company for the past 12 years, guiding a dedicated team in transforming and repositioning the organization.

Roeland Baan, Chair of the Supervisory Board, acknowledged Bruno’s remarkable contributions, praising his transformative vision and execution. Under Chabas’ leadership, SBM Offshore overcame various challenges and evolved into a leader in the FPSO market and an established energy transition company. Baan extended best wishes to Bruno for his future endeavors. Regarding Tangen, Baan expressed confidence in his strong leadership and people skills, emphasizing his extensive experience in core business areas as crucial for effectively leading SBM Offshore into the future.
