Alfredo Delgadillo has been named the CEO and President of Universal Music México, effective immediately. Operating from Mexico City, Delgadillo will directly report to Jesús López, Chairman/CEO of Universal Music Latin America & Iberian Peninsula. In his expanded role, Delgadillo will continue leading Universal Music Mexico and will now also oversee the regional Mexican Label Fonovisa-Disa.
Delgadillo commenced his career at Universal Music Mexico in 1998 as the International Marketing Manager. He later joined EMI Music Mexico in 2003, holding various positions and overseeing projects for artists such as Zoé, Paty Cantú, Moderatto, Alejandra Guzmán, Timbiriche, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, and Gorillaz, among others. After the acquisition of EMI by UMG in 2013, he rejoined Universal as the General Manager and eventually became the Managing Director in 2017.
Under Delgadillo’s leadership, Universal Music Mexico has become a force in breaking and expanding the global reach of local artists like Lasso, Danna Paola, and Mon Laferte. The announcement highlights his successful strategies to propel international acts to the top of Mexican charts and his role in developing Global Talent Services (GTS) as a top-notch organization for live music and management in Mexico.
Jesús López praised Delgadillo’s extensive experience across entertainment fields, highlighting his leadership skills and track record in developing and integrating young executives into teams. He expressed confidence in Delgadillo’s success in his new mission, extending the full support of the entire UMG team.
Expressing his excitement about the new responsibility, Delgadillo emphasized the unique moment of growth for Latin music and Regional Mexican music. He looks forward to expanding the success and reach of their artists globally, in addition to growing the live and management businesses. With the inclusion of Fonovisa-Disa labels, Delgadillo aims to collaborate closely with its leader, Antonio Silva.
