LivePerson Appoints John Sabino in the Role of CEO
LivePerson, Inc. (NASDAQ: LPSN), a prominent enterprise conversations company, has announced the appointment of John Sabino as its new CEO, effective January 10, 2024. Sabino will also assume a position on the LivePerson Board at that time. His selection received unanimous approval from the Board following an extensive and thorough search process led by an independent directors’ committee.
John Collins, who has served as LivePerson’s Interim CEO and CFO since August 2023, will continue in an expanded role as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
Sabino’s most recent role was as Chief Customer Officer at VMware (recently acquired by Broadcom) until January 8, 2024, where he led a 7,000-person global Customer Experience and Success organization, achieving significant revenue growth to $1.3 billion and enhancing customer experience for over 350,000 customers.
Previously, Sabino held key positions such as Chief Customer Officer at Splunk, overseeing customer experience for 18,000+ customers and a revenue stream surpassing $950 million. He also served as Chief Operating Officer at GE Digital, a $1 billion IoT and infrastructure software provider, where he led operations, strategy, go-to-market initiatives, and technology infrastructure. His career commenced as a captain in the United States Army, followed by executive roles at GE Capital and NBC Universal.
Jill Layfield, Chair of the LivePerson Board, expressed confidence in Sabino’s ability to drive growth and profitability for LivePerson, emphasizing his proven track record, customer-centric approach, and global team leadership.
Layfield also acknowledged Collins’ exceptional leadership during the transition, recognizing his contributions in refocusing the company on its core strengths and establishing a robust data-centric foundation for future execution.
Sabino expressed excitement about joining LivePerson during a phase of significant growth in conversational AI and customer engagement technologies. He highlighted his eagerness to collaborate with the LivePerson team, along with Jill Layfield and the Board, to further develop the company’s platform capabilities and seize market opportunities for the benefit of clients, partners, shareholders, and employees.
