Seven West Media CEO to Depart

The CEO of Seven West Media, one of Australia’s major media corporations, is set to step down. James Warburton will conclude his tenure by the end of the 2024 financial year, as announced by the company on Thursday.

Kerry Stokes AC, the chairman of Seven West Media, disclosed the appointment of Jeff Howard as the incoming managing director and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding James Warburton. Warburton expressed his intention to step down at the conclusion of FY24, according to the note submitted to the Australian Securities Exchange.

Currently serving as Seven’s Chief Financial Officer, Jeff Howard’s transition into the new role is scheduled to take place “in or before” June 30, 2024. Stokes highlighted Howard’s comprehensive skill set, deeming him aptly equipped to navigate the dynamic and evolving media landscape.

Expressing his enthusiasm for leading the television giant, Howard emphasized Warburton’s legacy in positioning Seven West Media advantageously for upcoming opportunities. Howard emphasized the company’s commitment to creating exceptional content, aiming to solidify its position as the foremost news, sports, and entertainment brand in Australia while prioritizing shareholder value.

Reflecting on his tenure, Warburton highlighted significant accomplishments during his four-year leadership, such as securing long-term AFL and cricket TV streaming rights and substantially enhancing the company’s balance sheet and digital earnings.
