Foodpanda CEO Jakob Angele Resigns
Jakob Angele, who served as Foodpanda’s CEO for an extended period, resigned from his position in mid-October. He has been succeeded by John Fang, who previously held the position of chief international officer at the food delivery company.
Delivery Hero, the parent company of Foodpanda, has not made any public statements regarding the reasons for Angele’s departure. However, Tech in Asia reported that he may have left due to allegations that he leaked confidential information related to discussions about Delivery Hero selling the company to its competitor, Grab, which is currently the leading food delivery service in Southeast Asia.
According to Tech in Asia’s post on LinkedIn, “Allegations have arisen that Angele was forced out of his role after he leaked details about confidential talks considering Grab purchasing Delivery Hero’s Southeast Asian business, as alleged in posts by Rebekah Rankine, his former girlfriend.”
