Thomas Woldbye is the new CEO of Heathrow

Thomas Woldbye, the newly appointed CEO of Heathrow, has officially assumed leadership at the United Kingdom’s primary airport following the departure of former CEO John Holland-Kaye. Woldbye’s responsibilities will include overseeing Heathrow’s extensive plans for a multi-billion-pound upgrade of its current infrastructure over the next three years.

These plans encompass the aspiration to enhance passenger services, featuring a “next-generation” security program and a novel baggage system for Terminal 2. In the weeks to come, Woldbye will engage with various stakeholders at Heathrow, including baggage handlers, airlines, ground staff, and others, to discuss matters related to sustainability, business, and politics, seeking input on how to further enhance the airport.

Thomas Woldbye, the CEO of Heathrow, expressed, “The UK already has a hub airport that is the envy of much of the world. As I spend my first days getting to know the colleagues and Team Heathrow partners who make it a success, I’m looking for how we can make Heathrow even better for our customers and the British economy. It’s humbling to have the opportunity to take on the challenge and I’m excited to get started.”

Woldbye takes the helm after John Holland-Kaye, who served as Heathrow’s CEO for over nine years. During his tenure, he led the airport through expansion projects, navigated the challenges posed by COVID-19, and set it on a course to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, aligning with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
