First Female CEO for Cooley
Cooley, a Silicon Valley-founded law firm, announced on Monday that Rachel Proffitt will assume the role of the firm’s next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), taking over from its longtime leader, Joe Conroy.
Rachel Proffitt, currently heading Cooley’s San Francisco corporate practice and serving as a member of the firm’s board of directors, is set to officially assume her new position on January 1, 2024. She will be the first female CEO in the firm’s history. Joe Conroy, who has been leading the firm since 2008, will remain in his role as chairman.
Rachel Proffitt joined Cooley in 2017, coming from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. She co-chairs the firm’s legal education committee and has been involved as a member of the firm’s strategic committee and board nominating committee.
