Fraser Montgomery has been named the Chief Financial Officer of Ambassador Cruise Line. As a chartered accountant with over 30 years of experience in finance and business leadership, Montgomery brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.
Prior to joining Ambassador Cruise Line, he served as the CFO for LGH Hotels Management, a property investment and hotel management company operating 55 hotels across the UK. His career also includes various finance and business executive positions at well-known companies such as Marks & Spencer, Merlin Entertainments, and the recruitment firm PageGroup.
Montgomery’s appointment follows the departure of Matthias Seegers, the former CFO of Ambassador Cruise Line, earlier this year. He will assume responsibilities that were temporarily held by Simon Weeks, Ambassador’s Chief Administrative Officer, who served as interim CFO in recent months.
Montgomery expressed his excitement about joining the executive team at Ambassador Cruise Line and looks forward to shaping the company’s financial strategy and expanding the strategic finance function as they continue to build on their reputation as a premium cruise operator.
Christian Verhounig, CEO of Ambassador Cruise Line, welcomed Montgomery to the team and highlighted his extensive experience in international organizations under various private equity ownership environments. Verhounig emphasized Montgomery’s valuable expertise, both within and outside the travel and tourism sector, as the company strives to accelerate its growth and development plans.
The appointment coincided with Ambassador Cruise Line’s debut in Bristol, expanding its UK regional departure points. The latest ship, Ambition, embarked on an 11-night British Isles itinerary, marking the first of six sailings from the west country port expected to attract 7,440 passengers. Additionally, the cruise line plans seven calls to Bristol’s Royal Portbury Dock next year as part of a total of 18 scheduled visits.
