Derek Tan Joins Invictus Blue Malaysia as CEO
Derek Tan has taken on the role of CEO at media communications agency Invictus Blue Malaysia. With an impressive journey through several influential companies, Tan’s experience includes a pivotal role in the growth of ad agency Entropia, leading to its eventual acquisition by Accenture.
Reflecting on his new role, Tan expressed his excitement, saying, “There is greatness in Invictus Blue’s heritage, and I am honored to be part of the chapter to design the future together.”
As Invictus Blue Malaysia’s new CEO, Tan will leverage his extensive background, including his most recent position as Director of Sales and Marketing in Asia at Keypath Education from October 2022. During his time at Keypath, Tan successfully introduced data ecosystems for media testing and a creative sandbox, resulting in increased revenue for the company.
Notably, Tan played a significant role in the foundation and development of Entropia Global, working closely with renowned brands such as AirAsia, Maybank, Petronas, and Nippon Paint before the company’s acquisition by Accenture. Tan’s professional journey spans 17 years and includes notable positions at companies like Sime Darby, IPG Mediabrands, and Carsome.
This development follows Invictus Blue’s recent partnership with Havas Group. The collaboration, initiated last year, aimed to cater to media and integrated requirements for Havas’ clients. Invictus Blue boasts a strong reputation and proven track record in challenging industry norms, working with prominent clients like Vinda Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia, PETRONAS, and F&N.
Alberto Canteli, CEO/Chairman of Havas Group for Nordics CEE and Middle East, SEA, and North Asia, highlighted Invictus Blue’s impressive track record and cultural understanding as the basis for the affiliation agreement. Canteli emphasized that Invictus Blue’s ability to bridge local cultures, consumer trends, and cutting-edge tools aligns well with Havas Group’s global operations.
