Build the Right Team and Culture for Sustainable Growth
Continuing growth is one of the fundamental measures of success in business. A growing company is a healthy company. Growth brings resources that can be invested back into the company, ensuring you have the right team – and that they have the tools and training they need to keep your business evolving and moving forward.
With more than 40 years of experience as a business owner and leader, I’ve learned a few things about what it takes to empower long-term growth.
- Start with the right team: Everything your company does flows from the team you put together. Employees are the greatest asset any executive has. A key part of leadership is letting others take care of day-to-day operations so you never lose sight of the big picture.Ability, skills and experience are important, but a great fit with your company’s culture and values is essential. You need team members you can trust who share your vision and buy into your brand and mission. You can train for hard skills. But if a team member isn’t a good fit for your culture, that’s hard or even impossible to fix.
- Create a world-class culture: With a team that’s all in, you can build a company culture that supports success every step of the way.Your relationship with your team is the foundation of that culture. Be the boss you’d want to have. Be the kind of leader you would want to work for. That doesn’t mean you have to be the friendliest or funniest boss. But you set the tone for the workplace, and establishing relationships built on trust and respect is critical.Employees look to you for direction. Set clear expectations and goals, celebrate wins, provide training opportunities and teach your managers to provide meaningful feedback. When these are in place, you’ll find your company meeting the needs of team members and attracting top talent as an employer of choice.
- Deliver quality and choice: From the very beginning of my career, I’ve been dedicated to giving customers what they’re looking for. That means the best products and service as well as consumer choice. At Tint World®, we’ve established ourselves as the one-stop shop for the automotive needs of a wide range of lifestyles and budgets. That’s our value proposition for consumers. We’ve created a brand that works for everyone. For our franchisees, we offer value in the form of our proven, repeatable franchise systems and processes. We’ve invested in developing best-in-class solutions that leverage our position as the top global automotive franchise. We’ve dialed in the right technology, strategies, marketing tools and vendor relationships to streamline operations so each of our owners can drive profitability and achieve their individual goals while supporting our overall success as a brand.
- Have a vision: You have to be able to see the big picture and identify where you want to go in order to lead your team there. In business, you have to understand every aspect of your company’s operations, but at the same time you have to stay focused on the long-term goal.Leadership requires empowering your team to execute your vision every day and elevate the company. It’s a challenging job. But for executives and leaders, it’s the only option. Your team depends on you to continue driving them into the future. Continually meeting and overcoming new challenges is how you, your team and your company can ensure ongoing growth.
Business success starts with building the right team, establishing a positive culture and making a commitment to quality. That all sets the stage for developing and effectively implementing a vision your team has bought into. When all those ingredients are in place, everybody wins – and that shared success will drive your company to the next level.
