Charlene Gavel is the new CEO and President of SaskTel
SaskTel has introduced Carlene Gavel as the new CEO and President, who has assumed the role with immediate effect.
Gavel has an extensive background as Chief Financial Officer at SaskTel for a period of 9 years, and the board has expressed their strong confidence in her capabilities. Charlene Gavel holds a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Regina and is a recognized Chartered Professional Accountant.
Charlene Gavel’s appointment to this position was confirmed by the board of directors on August 3, following the retirement of the previous CEO and President in February. Note that SaskTel has expressed gratitude for the contributions of former CEO Doug Burnett, who has dedicated three decades to the company.
According to Don Morgan, Burnett played a pivotal role in guiding SaskTel through substantial infrastructure undertakings, such as the 5G Network Modernization Program, Wireless Saskatchewan, and the ongoing Rural Fibre Initiative.
Morgan further stated, “I’m pleased to welcome Charlene Gavel to her new role as CEO. Her extensive knowledge and experience with SaskTel will be a significant asset as the company continues investing in communities across Saskatchewan.”
Before Gavel’s tenure at SaskTel, she held significant roles within the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region, including Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Financial Services. She also contributed her expertise at Information Services Corporation (ISC) as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance and Administration.
