To become a mariner is a dream for many and it is a challenging career as well. When you decide to become a mariner, you are going to be on the go for months and it is worth it too. When you join the marine academy, you get a degree and get posted as captain or deck officer. After you complete the course, you will be going to sail right away for months so that you get hands-on experience of how the processing is and what all happens on the deck.

One thing is for sure after you join the merchant navy you will be roaming a lot and you will explore a lot many places. Marine life is an extraordinary experience though you will be away from your family for months you get paid very well. It is said to be a mariner is equal to earning what a pilot of an aircraft earns and with a lot many difficulties.

  1. State University Of New York Maritime College, US
    Popularly known as SUNY this college is located in Bronx, New York, United States, and was founded back in 1874. The university offers MS programs that deal with international transportation management along with many other undergraduate programs. The candidate who undergoes the training from the university joins later after the completion of the course as United States Merchant Mariner officer.
  2. California Maritime Academy, California
    California maritime academy was founded in the year 1929 and is located in Vallejo, California. This is the only academy in the United States which has its campus and is located on the west coast. The academy has a variety of courses that they offer at both undergraduate levels as well as master’s levels. They have expertise in transportation and engineering management courses other programs offered by the university are facilities engineering technology, marine transportation, marine engineering technology, and mechanical engineering international business and logistics.
  3. Greenwich Maritime Institute, England
    The Greenwich maritime institute was founded in the year 1998 and is a major part of the University of Greenwich with a sole motive which was to get better at the marine research field. If a candidate wants to be more of a researcher, then this institute is from them. The institute offers courses like maritime security- MSc, maritime studies- MA by research, maritime history, MA, and a few more similar courses.
  4. Tokyo University Of Marine Science And Technology, Tokyo
    The Tokyo university is located in Minato, Tokyo, and was founded in the year 1875. This university is a part of the National University of Japan and it is also a very well reputed university in the world for marine study/ course. The university offers provisions for international students and offers a variety of undergraduate and post-graduate courses for students to choose from. The university offers great staff and deals as many international students enroll themselves every year at the university.
