Students voted in Canada choosing the Most Attractive Employers for 2020. The ranking comes from Universum, which processed the results presenting the top 10 most attractive companies from different sectors, according to students in Canada.

The basic factor that leads students to choose specific companies in order to complete the top 10 was high future earnings. Students are motivated when reassured of economic success in the long term. The second most important factor for students was secure employment, followed by a friendly working environment. In this survey participated 16.226 students from 157 universities in Canada making 62.758 employer evaluations. The survey was conducted during the period between October 2019 and February 2020.

Google slowed down the pace of hiring during 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The company hired 20.000 employees in 2019 and was targeting a similar number for 2020 according to an email that the CEO Sundar Pichai, sent to employees in April.

Apple took second place in the list, according to students in Canada. Apple directly employs 90.000 employees in all 50 states of America while planning to create 20.000 new jobs across the USA by 2023.

At the 3rd place on the list comes Tesla. In the second quarter of 2020, Tesla announced that delivered 90.650 vehicles, beating analysts’ expectations given the Covid-19 pandemic’s effect on production and demand.

Amazon and Deloitte complete the top 5 most attractive companies. According to votes from students in Canada, Amazon took 4th place on the list while Deloitte took 5th place of the list. More specifically, Amazon announced in September that it is recruiting 100.000 more workers in the United States to keep pace with e-commerce demand that jumped during the pandemic. The company employed more than 876.000 people as of June 30, 2020, excluding contractors and temporary personnel. At the same time, Deloitte LLP and its subsidiaries recorded 23,2 billion dollars in US revenues in the fiscal year-end May 30, 2020. The total number of employees is more than 113.000 people.
